Car Door Problem - Help!

Over the last few days I've had a problem with my 1998 camry's driverside door lock. Basically I think something inside the lock is jostled or otherwise damaged. I try to put my key in, but I can't stick it all the way in, it always gets jammed.

I have to open the doors from the passenger side and use the powerlocks. The door locks/unlocks fine from the inside and the powerlocks work fine. Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to call a locksmith or take it to a garage? Is it an expensive fix?

Someone might have stuffed something in your lock, wait till night, take a tooth pick and flashlight and move the small cover and shine the light in and see if you see anything. Might want to spray some WD40 in there as well.

Its the gremlins.

Get contact cleaner, dont use wd40 since it gums up. Spray that in there and it will work fine. If not your key is worn out

It's (obviously) likely a problem with lock itself, and it sounds like one of the pins in the lock is screwy. I'd try lubricating it with graphite powder first. If that won't work a locksmith can certainly fix it, but I've never had it done, so I don't know what it might cost.

if you have to replace the cylender it should be pretty cheap. Get one from a junk yard and get it rekeyed. or, order one from a dealer, they will match your key code.
