Small digital camera

Looking for a small, thin digital camera. The one I have now is like 7 years old and as people in the WAYWT forum know, the pics fucking suck on it. I need something thin so it can fit into my suit jacket pocket or my travel jacket pockets, or really so it just isn't cumbersome. I don't know anything about camera's so really looking for guidance for a small camera, not hard to use, that does the job well.

For something with that criteria, get a Canon Powershot Elph.

I got that...well the old one. I hope the quality has improved in 5-7 years across the board?

Canon ELPHs. The cheap ones are particularly good value.

Consider the new Canon Powershot SD4000 IS launching this month. It has a decently wide zoom that is also fast at f2, good for low light shooting. Ricoh is a perennial favorite brand among the camera cognescenti, mostly for their high quality lenses and performance. Also excellent is the Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR which carries the Fujinon reputation for excellent lens and photo quality and long battery charge life, a consideration for travelling. The ultra-thin models generally score well on the weight and cuteness factors, but fall short on a useful range of focal length--particularly at the wide end-- or useful aperture range. Also, to fit into the small case, the battery has to be made much smaller which limits the charge life. Most small digital cameras have only the LCD screen for composing, which eats power and cuts into charge life, sometimes significantly. Having owned a few of those: Sony, Samsung and Panasonic particularly, those limitations were far more annoying than the advantages of camera size.

Is this the proper Elph?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...e=UTF8&s=photo

The other one recommended was too much, I really wouldn't be using it other than for vacations and ebay selling pics.

Any Canon or a Panasonic Lumix. IIRC, the Lumix boasted a Leica lens. Panasonic also sold a wide-angle point-and-shoot camera for a while, which I really liked.
