Well it is not for everyone I guess. I think its more soul than funk. Dusty in Memphis is terrific.

I love it,

the group gives off a vibe/feeling i'd only really gotten from the greenhornes/holly golightly

as was mentioned it is quite soulful and (atleast I) you feel like you're listening to AM radio or something it seems to good to have been released in 2010.

+1. Saw her here in DC at the Kennedy Center for a free show. Easily one of the best entertainers I've seen in years. She's cool in a leave-it-all-on-the-stage way, not I'm-so-fly-and-sexy way. Haven't hear the new album, appreciate the recommendation.

It's basically a local label out of Brooklyn, New York who does the band and others-Daptone Recordings.

One of the best records I have heard all year. Available on LP and CD.

I'm glad Kent is on it. But in this case, better late then never. I stumbled across this band playing at a local audio shop and fell in love immediately with it.

Yes, better late than never. You know about James Brown, right?

I saw her live in Detroit last week and it was one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. If you like the new album, her label has a compilation called Daptone Gold that came out a few months ago that is also really good.

Just saw them live on the first stop of their North American tour. Like everyone's said, great show, amazing energy. I felt like I was watching a James Brown-era R&B revival happening before my eyes.
