Almost 8 cm (just measured it).

Thank you for this thread. I had seen it in your signature several times and looked through it but I got one of my fathers old belts he no longer wanted and needed to shorten it. Your method worked perfectly. Thanks again!

Good thread. I didn't look closely enough at one of the belts I bought in Florence and ended up forking over $25 at a shop on 11th where the guy took about 5 minutes and when I got it back in my hands I saw I could've done it even quicker myself if I'd inspected it beforehand.

Called my father up and he altered the two I got for him by hand himself!
