Check out this thing.

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/02/aa-12-automatic/

Go to about 6 minutes and check out the little bomblets that you can fire with this thing.

How would you feel about being a weapons designer/engineer. I am not sure I could feel good about such a profession.

Bet those gun-crazed nut jobs who post in that Gun Appreciation threak would love to get their hands on one of these..

The Mexican cartels are going to love these!

This has been out for at least five years. The engineering is really cool, there's virtually no blowback.

This is my ultimate dream weapon. I think every non felon US citizen should be issued one of these.

I'm glad Wired is reporting on the technology that really matters.

My best friend is currently one in the US Marines.
We had been best friends from the time we were about 2 until we graduated high school. He lived right behind me. I remember when we'd hang out as kids and all he would ever say was how he wanted to design weapons and defense systems. Fast forward 15 years and that's exactly what he's doing. It's heartwarming to see someone doing the thing they've literally been dreaming of their entire life.

Very cool. I wonder if these will make it into general issue. I've always wondered why full-auto, mag fed shotgun platforms like the HK CAWS, SPAS15, USAS12, South African Striker didn't gain widespread acceptance in most modern military forces. [Yes, I know the HK CAWS was never put into full production.]

IIRC the US mil uses the Mossberg M590 and now the Benelli M4, neither of which are full-auto or magazine fed. Most of the Saiga 12 magazine-fed semi-auto shotguns I have seen experience reliability problems, which is a bit ironic given the stellar reputation for reliability of the Kalishnikov action.

lol....If you need a full auto shot-gun to defend your home, it would probably be best that you move to a new neighborhood, or get out of the drug-running business.

On a serious note, this thing is amazing. Other than the round count, and ability to fire 300 rpm, I'm most impressed with it's compact design(epecially for clearing rooms), and ability to withstand sub-zero temps or full submersion in salty waters.

I need one of these for the south Florida streets....although with the drivers we have here I'll probably go bankrupt buying ammunition

I'm torn between being impressed and fascinated by the engineering and sheer power of this beast of a gun, and being saddened by the fact that these weapons will end many human lives - moreso than if the technology didn't exist. Is there any solace to be had in the latter?

man the damage you could do with this thing.

it would be like having a claymore mine in your hands.

quite scary.
