nike shox versus adidas megabounce

Thread Starter
what do you guys think about running in nike shox. when i had a pair I found they were too heavy and I couldn't run with any speed. They are no good at the gym either, try doing free weight squats with heels elevated that much. Adidas megabounce and microbounce are the best track shoes I ever wore. they are very light when running sprints. i can get on my toes very easily and run like a gazelle.

Check out a pair of Nike's new "lunar" series shoes for running.

I like something as flat-soled as possible at the gym. The Nike Free offers me just me just enough lateral support and cousin, but barely affect my natural balance.

When I do sprints on a track I like to wear something similar to the Puma Street Kosmos. These are extremely lightweight and shaped like sprinting spikes. They have good grip on an outdoor track surface.

The solution is to have a good running brand (Pearl, Brooks, Asics, etc.) for running and a good pair of cross trainers for the gym.

Nike and Adidas both make great cross trainers, and I love Pearl Izumi for running.

I don't like Shox either. The only Nike I have liked for running was the Air Pegasus, and I haven't worn those in years. Stick with New Balance, Saucony, Brooks, or Asics for running.

Running in a shoe that isn't made for running is a bad idea.

You're a sprinter but don't wear spikes? Uhh...

Unless you run with out shoes....

Nike Shox are horrid.
I love Mizuno shoes, they are kind of the hidden secret among runners as they do not advertise at all.
I like low profile shoes that have the least difference between the heel and forefoot to assist in promotion of midfoot striking vs heel striking (which shox will only allow).

I'm a huge fan of nike free 5.0. I'm working on my second pair right now and have no complaints!

Agreed. I don't recommend lifting with running shoes, though many people do. Personally, I lift in Chuck Taylors. I run in New Balance with Superfeet insoles, but I don't do sprints.

I never saw any Mizuno running gear in the States (not that I was looking), but it's all over the place here in Japan, as would be expected. I like em a lot, but they're pretty damn expensive.
