Essay

So for my anthro class i have to write an essay on some culture. the topic is pretty open and im feeling silly so I chose this:

The relationship between the adoption of Americana by japan and its respective similarities to Americans interpretation of Japanese culture.

Im focusing on publications such as lighting, free and easy, etc. and how they are using a glorified romantic version of Americana. Just as we Americans have a glorified Romanticism version of Japan in mind.

Ive already got a rough draft and used a few print sources for reference such as inventory magazine interviews and various other interviews with other designers and retailers and have a pretty ok paper... not really looking for help. Just thoughts on the overall subject.

however links to any various interviews would be nice for my personal enjoyment.

Ah, Americana. Do you think you actually have two topics on hand? How long is your essay and how much detail and analysis, do you think you want to go into? Just wondering.

It does sound a little sprawling in theory; perhaps limiting it to clothing modes might be more balanced? You'd still retain biker culture, rockabilly and so forth, and Junya Watanabe's approach may merit a single page just by analysing the breadth of his collections Of course, you could tie in music, assuming you're not already, and expound on Shibuya-kei and Neo-Shibuya-Kei

Yeah, I read that ivy style post before. Anyways, if your prof. isn't expecting anything in depth, then go ahead and have fun with it. =)
