Not for me. when it comes down to the technological aspects of watchmaking I have no doubt japanese can perform but its like cars, Id rather drive a german mercedes anyday than a japanese car. we can start breaking down performance to price ratio's but who cares.
what makes materialistic things special is the attachment you have with them. so good for you if you like these.

Here is why: As a matter of fact, STOWA produced the Flieger for the German Air Force in WW2. Wearing it hence identifies you with... well the nazi.

Yet, as I see it, US citizens have more distance to these matters so delicate to us Europeans. So if you should opt for this watch, the original would be the handwinding version with a steel bottom. You should also look for the model that does not feature the quite sizable logo on the dial. Imho it is much more elegant.

The other model is not known to me.

you can get an orient mako for half of with the code scubaboard50, is it worth picking up over the seiko 007 which is almost double the cost?

I believe the Mako is a great watch. I actually have the blue one but I also own the Seiko 007. My advice: get both and don't look back.

anyone have any experience with Uniform Wares watches. they seem very simple, would like to see "wild" photos tho.

I don't mean to thread hi-jack, but if anyone is interested in a black Jurgen or regular bund strap for 20mm lugs/under 40mm watch faces, I have one for sale. Photo is a few pages back.
