These military mods look great. They have a minimalistic look that is rather handsome.

The same guy is also offering this:

I like the look of this also ($140), but I'm probably going to go with the black version.

Those Seiko 5's look great, just be careful before ordering a custom non-returnable because they are quite small. I don't like big watches, but the Seiko 5 is even too small for me at 37mm.

I do love the look of these, but agree about the size. For summer casual wear it's great though. I don't think I would bother purchasing a nicer bracelet strap for these for formal wear. If these came a little larger...

There is almost no utilitarian reason to buy a watch anymore. Admit it: you're buying a fucking bracelet.

glancing at your wrist is still mildly more convenient than pulling a cell phone out of pocket and turning the screen on. But there is nothing wrong with wearing a watch primarily as an accessory.

I agree. But considering the general jewelry-phobia that exists here, the watch love is amusing.

Over in MC I posted a thread asking for opinions on this watch.
It's about $100, which is about the upper range of what I want to spend on a watch. What are the thoughts from the SW&D crowd? I should add that if I do buy this watch, the first thing I'd do is replace the leather strap with a striped grosgrain one.

I agree, it's jewelry. I don't know how it can be thought of otherwise.

FYI, Watch Doddy monitors all the populars deal-of-the-day websites. There isn't anything really nice today, but it you monitor the site for a week or 2, you can get an awesome deal on a nice watch. Most only ship to conUS.

also, Jacques Lemans is a pseudo-swiss brand only sold on the net. They have a line of watches that are swiss-made with nice movements that are really affordable.

I like This one a lot.

At a new job, it always looks more professional to glance at your watch to check the time instead of pulling out your phone.
