Fortunately we ate at Keen's Steakhouse instead. Best churchwarden pipe collection I've seen. I recommend the Bull Moose/Teddy Roosevelt room. The Chateaubriand is excellent.

DB Bistro Moderne is next door, too.

I used to love the French toast at Triomphe (also next door) as a kid, but I haven't been there in years.

I had a nice burger (Gruyere) at Triomphe before the event. Also entertained some clients at Mason Dixon after the event. Some local talent there.

Not that I like most postwar architecture anyway, but that club is not showing the style at its best. The controversial addition to the Harvard Club it much nicer.

Just down 43rd, the Century Club is very nice.

Lugar is a bit of a pain to get to (especially when you finish a dinner really late and have to venture to uptown Manhatttan), but still good. I like Minetta Tavern, but lately it has been fewer steakhouses and more butter/foie.

The whole club is a shit-pile. I guess the much smaller alumni base hurts, but it is embarrassing.

I only use it to play squash. When they were renovating we got to use the Harvard club, soo much better.

But on the plus side I guess we didn't have to deal with as many grad students.
