May 17th. The quintessential Rolling Stones album. They pretty much sucked after that. +1000

Are they re-mastering the old recordings as well or if this just a re-issue with some new songs?

My favorite Stones album, bar none.

p.s. I wish they'd reissue Sticky Fingers and Beggars Banquet on 180 gram vinyl. Mmmmm... delicious.

"On 17 May 2010 (18 May in the US), Exile On Main St will be reissued in remastered form with a bonus CD featuring 10 previously unreleased tracks from that album's sessions (some of which have been recently 'sweetened' by the Stones' current boardsman Don Was, with brand-new vocals, guitar overdubs and background singers)."

Black and Blue is another good one. Good albums, some great songs, but the rot had begun to set in.

CD1 is the Remaster and CD2 consists of unreleased tracks/alt takes. There's also a deluxe set which includes a 160 page picture book, postcards, etc. Also a documentary video set for June release. See my OP for a preview.

Here's a sample of a couple of remastered songs. Kinda weird. They sound very...modern. Listen to "All Down the Line" a few minutes in on this link. Going to take some getting used to. Mick sounds very up front in the mix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bqp7nXumzw And a really good article on the Exile overdubs in LA http://www.laweekly.com/2010-05-13/m...set-boulevard/

yep, although part of me thinks it would be a travesty if they cleaned up the sound at all.

really looking forward to this after hearing the youtube clip. i'm already hearing things i haven't noticed before. sure, it's weird to clean it up, but i always have the original mix to fall back on. it's gonna be cool to be able to re-explore this album.

On the radio today, the DJ stated that there is an "ultra-deluxe" set which includes vinyl.
