"Walking shoes for Europe" - Page 5

PaoloM you are actually kind of a doobag. You remind me of myself. I made a thread like this about a possible 'oneshoe' that I can wear for backpacking and it was honestly a whatever fits your needs the most thing. Here you ask for suggestions and you're like nope nope nope then someone throws in another suggestion then you're like lolz wtf. That shoe doesn't exist. There is no one shoe that can satisfy everything you want. And honestly, 'walkings shoes for Europe'. Just use what you consider as walking shoes for the US. I went to Greece over the spring break and from what I remember, walking in Europe doesn't require different footwear from walking in America.

I find those walking in Europe threads funny.

What shoes are you usually wearing for walking? Or don't you walk? Or are they white-I-am-an-American-tourist sneakers?

Like other posters already said - wear whatever you like and are comfortable in; Europeans are no uberstylish kind of superhuman beings

Desert boots?

Boatshoes. Sockless. Comfortable, not too hot, can withstand abuse.

I really wish you hadn't commented so snarkily on suggestions you didn't like. Know that when you post, you would invariably get some suggestions you don't like but that their intentions came from a pure and simple purpose of trying to help you come up with ideas. They don't owe you shit.

I don't know if it's because you are simply having a bad day, that you are young, a moron, a self entitled American douchebag or a combination of all of them but if you keep up with that of crotchety attitude of yours, you ain't gonna enjoy any trips no matter what you wear. Good manners, no matter where, would get you better response. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Also trying to figure out what shoes to take to Europe for my next trip in a few months. I've typically taken desert boots/casual shoes but thinking about picking up a pair of Alden boots.

Europe is a big place. Around here in central Italy basically no need for boots normally in Feb/March. Northern Europe you'll have different needs.

Of course it depends on what you're doing.

Guess those suggestions come 1.5 years too late for the OP ... but since someone else asked: Don't anticipate the need for giant marches in Europe - basically all cities have functioning and convenient public transport. So you can explore Paris/Vienna/Barcelona/Munich/... in nice shoes without getting blisters.

When thinking about casual shoes you might opt for puma sneakers or Converse Chucks rather than New Balance running shoes if you wanna "assimilate" (depending on your age).

When has Cole Haan "Nike Air" become synonymous with comfort? I thought Nike Air stood for "Worker's Tears." If you want some cushion, wear pijamas and bunny slippers. If you're a man, wear some properly fitted shoes with insoles that mold to your feet (i.e. cork in AEs).
