My personal taste is somewhat more eclectic.

It all looks very sterile and very uncomfortable.

except for furniture, there are very few things I like about the interior decoration and arrangement of objects. It is also very cliched as almost every home interior on my block looks like this.

looks cheap.

True. I only like the terrace, the light, and maybe the bathroom.

Too many "focal points." It's like every object in the house is on a narcissistic mission to proclaim its modernist purity. And this shelf is just tacky.

I don't hate it but I don't love it.

I like the kitchen. And the rug in the bedroom.

the word modernist as used to describe this decor is somewhat misleading. It's more like mid century modern. When I think modernist, I think Le Corbusier:

Ew. Carpet.

this is not modernist in the slightest. Assuming you mean Le Corbusier, Mies, Johnson et al

This looks like a lazy Design Within Reach catalog

OK, you're right: mid-century modern. Modernism par excellence for me is of course Bauhaus. Which is, however, closely related to mid-century style (form/function etc.).

Agree. Confession: should've looked at the whole slideshow before posting the link.

Tacky. Maybe. Cheap. No. MCM is a very clean style and it's styling is rather prevalent in California homes, especially in the middle to upper income ones. Those damn Scandinavian vase designs, depending on the firm, can cost a fortune although they serve no purpose other than decoration. The Bauhaus didn't care for that. Even by 1950s standards, Bauhaus production had more weight of craftsmanship. In today's world, I've seen a lot of stupid interior decor, like putting a stone Buddha in the middle of the house for "decoration" especially when the folks that do that have no Asian ancestry or any knowledge of the East.
