My only bit of advice here is that you should wait until you are 99% certain that you are living in the place you want to live for the rest of your life. On a serious note, I think a good pepper mill is something everyone should have. A quality pocketknife is another. A set of quality cutlery along with good pots and pans should be on the list too. I know a lot of people don't cook but I think it's a good skill to acquire for many reasons, and having the tools for the job will make things easier.
