Allevol jeans - any good ?

Hi

I came across Allevol jeans which are made in Japan from 13 oz selvage denim with hidden rivets for a retail price of 99 GBP (including VAT).

A search of SF did not yield any results.

So wondering if any member have any experience with them and if so could they post some pics.

Best regards

Tried on a pair of 14oz 002s the other day. Pretty standard fit in terms of slim cut jeans. Didn't notice the hidden rivets. Solid build quality.

More interested in the 001s though, which they didn't have in my size. Will post back later when they get them in

I ordered the 002 earlier in the day and just got a message that they have shipped. I will post some pictures when they arrive, should take a week for them to get here in India

Looks like it might be the same Kaihara sanf. denim that Uniqlo uses on their top-shelf MIJ jeans, if that specific pattern red-line selvage thread is anything to go by. If so, that's pretty nice stuff.

Out of interest, how can you tell? Is the threading unique on each specific mill?

No hate, just wondering

Interesting. Unfortunately, the huge backpockets kill it for me though...

It seems that it is ending next November (2011)...

The thing is though, the cheaper version of their jeans are all sold out...
Oipolloi has the slim cut (002), not boot cut.

I will check it at the one of their stockists!

I am getting the cheap one (99 GBP) only. Any idea how is the 185 one different from the 99 one except for the denim.

The jeans just arrived. They look too big in the waist and the thighs. Are they unsanforized ? In case they are sanforized, I will probably return them as they are too big for me. On the other hand if they shrink 2" in the waist they would work. The product page at Oi Polloi gives the following info The jeans will shrink up to 2-3% (1.5 inches) over the course of first few washes. They also STRETCH OUT/ gain 1-2" in the waist with wear, but will return to ticket size when washed.

I left a message at the Allevol company website regarding the above and got a quick response. Here is the message I left I just purchased a 002 slim 13 oz jeans from Oi Polloi. They are a little big for me. Are the jeans unsanforized and if so should I soak them before wearing and how much are they expected to shrink on first soak. This is the reply I got Dear Akash, Thank yoo for purchasing our products. Our denim (13oz as well as 14oz) are both sanforized. Therefore the shrinkage will be minimum (no matter how hot/tumble dry you do, it will shrink around 1.5-2.5%). I am afraid to say that I am not able to answer your question, "how much it will shrink on first soak?" as this depends on how you do it (temprature, how much time you soak, how you dry etc). If you do not mind, please take a picture of yourself(wearing Allevol jeans) and your favorite jeans (not Allevol) and send me over. I will have a look, and will be able to tell you more if you need different sizing. Kind regards Taka

The response from the customer service is great...
I never receive any email like that from french company AP?, although I spent fortune so far...

I can see from the blog that they use the denim from Okayama.
Therefore, it is not Kaihara denim (they manufacture in Hiroshima, and some of course in China!)...

Proper Japanese fabrics, Japanese manufacturing, and great customer service sound good to me!

any updates on the customer service? it really is responsive and helpful, perhaps it suggests that the company is still small=)
