Another couple good beer spots to add to the list would be Long Room, The Fountainhead, Revolution Brewery and even Goose Island has a decent selection and pretty good grub. Roof at theWit is the best rooftop lounge in the city, Bar DeVille is another great place for handmade cocktails, if you love beer and pork you can kill two birds with one stone by checking out The Publican over on Fulton. A couple other good wine bars are Enoteca Roma and Juicy Wine Co. (although the name might have changed), best burger hit up Kuma's who also has a very respectable beer list. Dives you have way too many, but Goldstar, Happy Village, Lemmings, Rainbo, Club Foote and Tuman's are some of my favorites. Cleo's has great bar food and so does Five Star (I am being kinda bias because I live in the area and can walk to all of these places.) One beer ya gotta try is Three Floyd's Gumball Head and Two Brother's Domaine DuPage, if you have any questions snag my number from Mauro and I can help ya out if ya need it...

Tooch4321: Another Wicker Park denizen! I live near Pulaski Park.

Cosign on Webster's Wine Bar. I've been there a few times with a very agreeable young lady and always had a good time.

I'll try to avoid what's already been mentioned except where absolutely necessary 1. Good cocktails - Violet Hour, The Bristol, The lobby bar of the Peninsula 2. Good wine bars - Bin 36, Pops for Champagne, Webster Wine Bar 3. Good beer selection Sheffield's, Map Room, Hop Leaf - they've been mentioned, but they are the best 4. Good dive bars Carlol's Pub, The Lodge(it's my local), Stanley's, McGees, Lottie's, Will's Northside 5. Good food/snacks The Bristol (conveniently located around the corner from the Map Room and also featuring great cocktails - although you have to request rye in your sazerac), Stanley's, Dublin's, Boundary, Jake Melnick's (best wings in Chicago), Bull and Bear 6. Good views of the city The signature room on the 96th, The roof at the Wit 6a. Good views of women : Underground, the manor, 7. Music: Martyr's , Elbo Room, Schuba's, Subterranean, The Green Mill 8. Suburban, but still fun: The Kerryman, Martini Park 9. Late-night: Burton Place, Frank's, the Lodge

To add some more in-

Edgewater lounge - few blocks north of hopleaf, way less crowded/expensive, has alot of american (especially midwestern) craft beers, nice outside area for when the weather is warm

Moody's - good burgers, nice outdoor seating for warm weather, cozy ski-lodge/cabin sort of interior for when its not so nice.

I've wasted a lot of time at the Edgewater. Nice recommendation.

Hey Lou,

Next Chicago meetup might be fun to do a pub/dive tour. We could start with fish and chips at Duke of Perth. I bet the Alfred Sargent people would love that place.

I'm a cocktail guy: Bar Deville and Violet Hour are my recs -- both are very good, but not great. The hotel bar at the Drake is also very old-school and excellent, or so I hear from those I trust.
