Yet another random stabbing
Quote:
A HEROIC lad of 19 was stabbed to death after standing up to a thug who punched his girlfriend as they celebrated her 18th birthday. Marcin Bilaszewski - the eighth teen murdered in London in six appalling weeks - was with pals when they were sworn at by a drug-crazed brute on a bus. The six-week run of murders started with schoolboy Sofyen Belamouaddin, 15, being stabbed to death at Victoria station in front of shocked rush-hour commuters on March 25. Two days later, promising footballer Godwin Lawson, 17, was knifed in Hackney, East London. On April 3, aspiring journalist Aliza Mirza, 18, was stabbed in the neck outside Manor Park railway station in east London on her way to a party. Then on April 16, Agnes Sina-Inakoju, 16, was shot outside a chicken shop in Hoxton. Two days later Wesley Sterling, 16, was stabbed by gatecrashers at a birthday party in Croydon. On April 23, student Charlie Wright, 17, was shot in the face in Eltham, south-east London. And today, a youth aged 16 was charged with murdering teenage student Nicholas Pearton last Wednesday.

yikes. I've never had that experience in London.

The quote makes it sound almost as if these were random events, but I suspect if we dug some more, most people probably knew their attackers and had a problem with them to begin with. Since I don't have a problem with anyone in London, I'm not that worried.

Your first problem is that you're reading The Sun.

Might be the Sun, but the piece he posted has nothing sensationalist about it. It's not like these kids haven't been murdered.

Doesn't really suprise me, this is the kind of thing I've heard about London for years.

Maybe I'm just too jaded by American cities, but 8 in 6 weeks seems fairly safe.

Yeah, the high crime parts of london are about as hazardous as the safest areas in US cities. If you think that's unsafe, visit detroit sometime.

Go to the ghettos of LA... It will make that sound safe. Per capitia that is very safe if that are the only crimes of that nature.

Do you have anything to support these thoughts???

it seems (from an outsiders perspective) that the bad thing about these crimes is they arent limited to gang activity in slum areas like the murders in US cities, but rather drunk youths acting tough all over the place..

is that valid?
