looking good in bad weather: what's your solution? - Page 3

Cropped trench, decent (not best) slacks, my Clarks desert boots that I got re-soled with all weather trac. and a nice sturdy umbrella.

I get to take my time while all the "Im too cool for an umbrella" types are scrambling around the city like children.

Real, actual, non-sarcastic question: what is the point of this? Don't you want the trench to fall further down the leg (2" to 6" above the knee, depending) to keep all of you dry?

The point was, if I'm wearing $1500 suits, I probably have a pretty strong motive to arrive at my destination not looking like I just tangled with a tsunami. I mean this is SW&D, mainly comprised of inherently durable clothing that, while often expensive, I really don't care if it gets wet. I'm not going to freak out if my new $250 jeans get rained on.

I'm a college student so I'll often walk 5+ minutes across campus on rainy days. In intermittent rain I'll carry a compact umbrella and avoid walking while it's raining. In constant rain I'll wear a mac or Barbour coat and a water repellant wool fedora. The hat's more of a hassle to carry than the umbrella, which I can hang from my school bag, but I prefer it in the rain. Sno-Sealed LL Bean Katahdin Iron Works boots are my default puddle-stompers.

any recs for a sturdy collapsible umbrella? Every one I've used has eventually broke

I stopped buying umbrellas because they kept breaking and now fuck it I'm used to just getting wet and dealing with it. I am thinking about just buying a face cloth or something instead and putting it in a bag in a coat pocket when it's raining so I can wipe off my face/hair inside.
