I'm in the market for a new kettle. Must be at least 2 Qt but preferably larger. Must NOT be made in China. Enamel or cast iron, cast iron would ideal. No stainless steel, aluminum, or cheap ass copper.
Under $100.

Thanks.

That looks like a teapot, not a kettle.

There are some here, but only one of them matches your size requirements:
edit: sorry just saw the prices, a lot higher then you wanted. Good luck on your search.

Those look perfect and are just what I was thinking about. Now I need to find one not made by an "ancient master" but just well made and priced right. The thing must exist. Anyone in Japan want to proxie?

Go to Soko Hardware in Japantown in San Francisco - they have these cast iron tea kettles.

Otherwise, the kettle I use is Oxy Good Grips, but It's probably made by our Chinese overlords.

I own several coffee/tea items from Bodum... they can be found at Target or most coffee shops, roasters. I believe they aren't made in China, but am not positive... I was unable to yield results from their website. I swear by this little tea press I have, it was very inexpensive but a great deal smaller than what you're looking for. -ohh... no stainless steel. hmm... there are quite a few ceramic kettles on amazon.

le creuset?

Their kettles are technically metric...so I think it works out to being like 1.8 quarts but that is almost 2

I have le creuset, and the innards are starting to rust. it is steel coated in enamel but the enamel is not that hardy. you should consider the rust factor of those iron kettles as well. it would probably start rusting with just a single day forgetting to empty it... Also, are you going to use only filtered water with it? if not, you will form a scale or film on the inside without regular cleanings.

I believe this Chantal is the industry standard - you will find it in the sets of many popular TV shows, which means it MUST make good tea It does have a very delightful whistle: http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDwQ8gIwBQ#

Thanks, I was actually there the other day but for some reason they did not have what I wanted. I can't remember why. Maybe 2 quarts is too big, it kooks like I may just role with another Le Creuset. Somehow I figured someone on this site would be like 5th generation dealer or know the totally random and yet absolutely best site for kettles. Maybe Hida tool.
