To soak or not to soak

I just got a pair of SD-103s. They've been hemmed, leaving them about 2-3 extra inches longer than my final desired length. I'm wondering if I should give them a cold soak, a warm soak, or no soak at all before wearing them in order to make sure that they break in properly and at the proper length. Should I just wear them as is before soaking, or should I soak them before wearing heavily and eventually washing them in a few months. Opinions?

They are unsanforized, so it'd be a bad idea to leave them as is. Either give them a soak (probably warm), or wash them.

soaking will cause them to shrink, if he doesnt soak them now, they are going to shrink a lot when they are first washed. Since they are unsanforized they are going to shrink a lot, so if they are worn in first the wear is going to be all over the place once they do shrink. I would also imagine they are going to be very big and baggy if worn without shrinking.

Thanks for the advice. I gave them a warm soak for about 90 minutes and let them hang dry. I'll let you know how they fit once they finish up, but they didn't lose any color in the process. So far, so good.
