Wow.... is it bad that I saw this pic and thought "I like the his shoes, the cuff of his pants, the stripes in his stocks, and the lining of his jacket"? Why is the pilot barefoot? Did the impact knock him out of his shoes? Why do they not show the pilot being pulled from the wreck? In pic 6 I see him walking away and I still the pilot's foot in the wreckage!!!!

This is Nigel Farage, of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), and he's fine now.

He suffered a minor spine chip (ouch), facial lacerations and broken ribs, but he has already been interviewed after being released from hospital. He seemed pretty cheerful.

The pilot - who indeed lost his shoes in the crash - sustained more severe injuries, and was airlifted from the crash site. Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery too.

Perhaps there was a concern that the pilot had a spine injury, though one would think someone would have stayed with him at all times. He also doesn't appear to be wearing trousers. Shorts maybe?

SF, what do you recommend for replacement shoes? I'm thinking Chelsea Boots or Varvatos Jack Purcells.

I was most impressed that despite the blood on his face, he managed to keep his shirt and tie relatively spotless. I have enough trouble doing that while dining at an Italian restaurant, let alone surviving a plane crash!

lucky bastard. My cousin rolled his souped-up infinity doing 200km/h once and he got up and walked away too. Funny thing was a cop had seen him going in the other direction and had turned around to pursue. My cousin got out of the wreck and laid down with his legs spread and his arms behind his head as the cop pulled up.

To survive a plane crash and walk away in almost clean suit... Pretty good day!
