What's hilarious is the incestuous relationship classic car mags have with the auction houses/sellers - those cars have been featured in various magazines recently. I know I've read articles on the Figoni et Falaschi and yellow 275GTB recently; hell, that Ferrari 400 is on the cover of Classic Car's May 2010 issue, sitting on my coffee table as I write this.

Nah, Ford's was a Daytona Spyder, but I think the 275GTB was owned by the same guy. I know there was an article recently on someone that owned a yellow Spider and a yellow 275, in Forza, iirc.

As for what I'd get: in that long dark tea-time of the soul, I think about buying and restoring this 1965 Quattroporte, leaving the interior red but chaning the paint to black. Unlike the cars above, this could be snagged for ~$10k:

i think the 550-575 and the 599 will age fairly well but the 360-430 and the new 458 will be more like the 308 in time. not hateful cars but they'll NEVER have the appeal of the vintage designs.

the California doesn't even need time to tell. It's as ugly as sin now and i can't imagine any amount of time will help it.

that said, there's not a design being manufactured today that will rival any of these ones. never will be again i wouldn't think. the TdF and that birdcage are pure automotive sex.

I'm usually not too keen on Ferraris, but I really like the dropping side-window on the'62 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. Older Bugattis have this too, I would really like to know how it is to drive one of them. That said, anything after the 575 will age badly, even the F50 looks awful now, nothing in comparison to the F40.

incredibly beautiful cars but from any sort of practical standpoint, entirely useless. im sure the costs associated with maintenance and parts (if you can even find any) are well in line with those multi-million-euro prices. these cars were finicky to begin with; after all these years, i'd be surprised if they were even roadworthy. which is a good thing, because even if they were roadworthy, they'd kill you. but again: staggeringly beautiful things. works of art, really
