My bodybuilding friends that live in Canada continually grumble about this.

Well, not so sure if this thread is about getting generic stuff or name-brand (OP and reference to Popeys suggests name-brand), but if it is name-brand you want you could always get it at bb dot com. Prices are really not that bad and since customs are never paid, you still pay substantially lower than retail in Canada.

Popeys... who the hell can afford to shop at Popeys?

ON Double Choc tastes pretty good with water and milk. TP recession blend plain with water does the trick just fine for me. I am a fan of BCAA's also if 1. you have the money and already have the key supps and 2. you are cutting.

Unless you are buying very large quantities from these sites, its not worth it. The taxes and shipping to Canada make the prices the same as buying from a local store.

I shop at popeyes quite regularily and find them to be helpful, but then again I usually go in knowing exactly what i want and why.

So maybe do your research first about what kind of goals you are trying to achieve. Ie. weight loss, muscle growth, test booster, overnight supplements, pre workout, post workout, general energy, overall health... the list goes on and on.

Go in with a goal and a plan or else you'll end up spending more than you planned and end up with stuff you don't really need.

Actually, popeyes is cheaper and more affordable than a gnc or vitamin house.

They also offer products that are technically illegal in canada, imposed over the past couple of years.

ie. Animal products.

Well, again it depends on what you are buying.

I'll give a specific example (one based on memory of what Popeys was selling for; they're prices may have changed, but probably not - this is just specific pricing example; it matters little if you like or hate the product):

1 container of BSN Tru Mass:
---BB = $38 ($54 with shipping)
---Popeys = $80 (not including tax)

3 containers of tru mass
---BB =$146 shipped
---Popeys = $210 (not including tax)

With BB there is no tax and no customs.

The savings are substantial enough for me, whether I am buying BSN, or ON, or Universal products.

This is both true and unfortuante. I like Animal Pak but you can't get it shipped to Canada (they won't allow it). Of the top of your head, what is Popeys charging for a 44 pack of AP?

Anyways, I used to shop at Popeys all the time (or SN Depot before it sold to Popeys), and my purchases were always limited - never more than some cheaper whey and maybe some creatine.

But with the increased savings I've received since shopping elsewhere (and with a strong dollar) I've been able to try new things just for the hell of it and having disposable income laying around. So it works for me. $80 - $90 for Muscle Milk? Meh.....

A 44 container of the Pak runs around 50 dollars i believe, give or take $10.

Also, I completely agree... I only use BB.com now, and the savings are quite substantial especially if you go through supplements quickly or are looking to get into bodybuilding and want a nice beginner pack.

However the OP, was asking for advice upon which BB.com cannot give and he is probably not looking for a pre workout, postworkout, a.m and p.m supplements. So I would definitely send him to Popeyes.

Do you guys really use a lot of supplements? Is it worth it at those prices?
