The dude definitely has skill, but he uses it to write the same hokey shit over and over again.

I generally don't like him, but occasionally I think he does something really cool. The Dark Knight, anyone?

yup, as mentioned above, I like it a lot.
Though one has to concede that he wrote it together with James Newton Howard, it's not hard to figure out who wrote what.
The idea to just use one pitch for the Joker's theme? ingenious! I know many people don't agree with me, but it worked extremely well in the movie (which is what counts most).

It's funny that I seem to be defending the man all the time, I don't even like him all that much, and there was a time when I would've solidly been in the other camp. But he's written some excellent music in the past, and he's had a good run lately. So yeah, don't kill the man. Losing Kamen and Goldsmith was bad enough.

So, what do people think about Inception? I find the music... uh... loud. It has its moments here and there, but overall, it's a bit too bombastic for me. I which he'd toned it down a little (just like I wish Nolan would've toned down the Action in the movie.. more than just a little)

Ya, the joker theme for TDK was absolutely perfect for what it needed to do. And he obviously did something right with the music for gladiator because i've heard its influence in several other movies.

I didn't like it, but it was reasonably effective in a FEEL SUSPENSE NOW sort of way.

Yes, I got TDK soundtrack just for the joker theme. It delivers. Gladiator was great. But yes it sounds dated and cliche now because every other epic movie since then uses the same damn music. Video games too, I raged hard at the ending of Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty because of the music choice alone.

+1 Can you believe Morricone has composed close to 500 scores ?! Can't hate on Zimmer, the The Rock ost and the likes are part of my childhood. The man has a gift for super efficient not subtle action scores but yeah it gets tiring. And the recycling of Gladiator/The thin red line needed to stop.

I'm a big alternative rock guy. And oddly enough, Hans Zimmer was on my top 10 most played list for a long time on last.fm.

Dream Is Collapsing is one of my favorites, off the Inception OST
