I have a logitech harmony remote that I got off slickdeals a few years back.

It is one of the simple ones, mostly real buttons with a small screen that can display text labels for other buttons. I don't feel the need for anything more (like a color touchscreen with icons or anything)...

I don't have it set up for my current system right now since I haven't been able to find a cheap IR reciever for my HTPC (and ideally I need a new receiver that can handle HDMI audio) but it was nice when I used to live with roommates and I could set it up to automatically turn on the right boxes/change to the right modes with the touch of a single button.

The software is kind of clunky feeling...but it gets the job done and is better than trying to set up a remote with those little codes or by learning the codes from another remote

After I posted that I checked slickdeals and they show a harmony remote (nicer than my old one) being sold by amazon for $70

pretty good deal...I've seen better for similar remotes (maybe this one is better...but they all do about the same thing) but you won't get more than $10-20 less if you are lucky and you might have to wait a long time

I was looking at the Harmony 600 from Target.com. It is $70 (retail $100). Is it the same one from Slickdeals?

880 for $70 so its a much better deal...I hadn't looked closer before though and it is a goldbox deal on amazon so its only good for another 45 minutes

I actually didn't mean to suggest a problem with the HDMI cabling (sorry if my earlier post was unclear). Rather, there is some configuration you have to do with each device to properly have the correct HDMI signals sent for on/off/volume etc. I believe there is a page in the HT-CT100 (and, I assume, for the 150 as well) that describes how to get things set up with regard to HDMI.

FWIW, getting something like a Harmony remote is also a good solution :-)

It's refurbished though. Looks like a good deal but when it comes to electronics, I try to avoid refurbished items as much as possible, especially if there is no b&m store I can complain to. Appreciate the help though, I might just go with the one from Target if I can't figure it all out.
