I think it's very difficult to respond in detail to this piece given the fact that it is literally full of factual inaccuracies, logical fallacies, unsupported conclusions, mischaracterizations and poor grammar.

If I picked out a single or even a few problems with the article it would be giving the short end of the stick to all of the rest of them.

My main reaction to the piece can best be summed up with the phrase: "boo-effing-hoo".

Complaining about being suspended by Roger Goodell is like complaining about being banned by StyleForum. You don't get punished for stepping over the line, you get punished for taking a flying leap over it.

Goodell does seem to suspend more based on the "morals clause" in contracts however. If you're involved in an altercation and law enforcement clears you of any wrong doing you probably shouldn't be suspended.

^^ it's a fine line, but i think he's doing the right thing. look at big ben. no charges, but he's put himself in those situations that looks bad for him and the NFL. he needed to do something there. god only knows what would've happened if ben didn't get suspended. jesse jackson and the rev would have had a field day over that one.

How many altercations are really unavoidable? If you are an NFL player, you should know better than to put yourself in bad situations.

I'm not saying certain situations are unavoidable, I'm just saying that sometimes people get wrap up in things that quickly get out of control. The best example of this is from that movie "The Program" where the QB had a bad game and he's in a bar trying to get over it and some other guy's girl is looking at him and it pissed the guy off so he wants to fight the QB.

Sometimes a chill situation can turn nutty if someone out there wants to try and make a name for himself or tries to get paid.
