Good Hair Products?

Hey everyone,

I need some advice on which hair products I should use for my hair. I have long shoulder length hair that's really wavy. It's not super thick, but it's not fine either, and it's prone to get oily as well. I'd just like it to be much more manageable, neat looking, and less prone to humidity and wind. Preferably, I'd like a product similar to what Johnny Depp used to make him have a hair style like this:

I'd also like a product that doesn't make your hair greasy, oily looking, or with a matte finish.

I know I'm really specific haha, but please help if you can,
Thanks

Yeah I did, and each site I visited gave a different answer. I also tried a gel one site recommended and it left my hair extremely oily. I'm hoping this forum could provide better answers.

Thanks

My stylist friend says this would be best for longer Johnny Depp type of hair, where it'll be silky and shiny but with body. She said the amount of Panthenol (Pantheol?) in this product is the highest of any shampoo. She also mentioned that you can get somewhat similar results by using Pantene products from Target/Walmart/etc as they also have Panthenol, but not in such a high concentration. She said the most economical thing would be to do the Philip B stuff once or twice a week, then do Pantene products the remainder. Not cheap at all, but looks effective. Watch the before and after. I guess if you get some tail as a result of having shiny hair it'll be worth it.

Well if your hair is already straight i would probably just use some sort of smoothing serum to take care of any left over frizz or fly aways, but if your is wavy or curly i would use a straightening balm or cream.

Gatsby seems to work for good bunch younger Asian folk. I haven't used it myself, but it's highly praised in some circles.

There's a little styling chart to direct you to which line of Gatsby products. Not sure if you can get it locally. Online, for sure.

Cheerio.

For what it's worth, I grabbed a couple of Pantene Pro-V products this evening based on willpower's post. I've got thin hair, so there's only so much any of these products will do. However, after using both (Ice Shampoo and a replenishing mask conditioner), my hair was pretty shiny and really soft.

I'd imagine it'd do some great things for guys who have a good head of hair to start with.

Hey, thanks for the props I like the Pantene stuff as well. Pretty affordable, too.

I can't stand greasy or oily hair at all. Until about a month ago, I used to have hair longer than Depp's in the picture you posted. It's shorter now, but still on the long side. I use a hair product with wax in it, and it seems to give some shine and definition without getting goopy, crusty or oily. Here's a terrible and possibly useless iPhone pic for you:
