Anybody Been Bitten by a Dog Lately?

Sucks. That's one big f*n dog. Hopefully this results in some cash for you. If you haven't already considered it, you can probably get a good amount of change from this guy. I would certainly sue, or discuss some sort of monetary settlement.

Not lately but in the past and it sucks. The last dog that tried was a pit bull out in the country. It met it's demise with a 357 mag round in the head. The owner was charged by the police for not keeping it leashed in a public place among other things.

i hope you are ok eventually (no serious infection, no rabies). are you just letting the owner go ? he should get some kind of punishment for this. from the way it sounds, you just had a casual talk with this guy, but im sure that wasnt the case

Well, it was not exactly a casual talk, but after the adrenaline wore off a bit, I started to think about things like vaccinations and stuff.. I am not gonna sue the guy or anything because honestly, for me, out of pocket, it's a couple hundred bucks, and the pain and suffering is mianly from the heartburn I am getting from the Cipro and Clindamycin I am taking for infection. Having owned some great dogs my whole life (although I'd never have left mine off leash or even in my backyard unattended), I don't really view it as the dog's fault, but what can I do? I guess I could have slugged the guy and wound up getting arrested for assault on top of everything, but I am not as hot-headed as I used to be..

Letting any dog run around uncontrolled is a bad business. If it is a large powerful dog with human-aggressive tendencies, it becomes exponentially worse! Most "country" dog owners are bloody awful about that sort of thing in my experience.

If the owner of the dog has any kind of homeowner liability policy, it might be worthwhile going after him for some kind of settlement. Very often people like that don't, though, in which case it might not be worth your while trying to get blood from the proverbial turnip.

Don't need to tell me about it: I live in a redneck town of 1500 people and it's impossible to walk/run anywhere around town without someone's dog going nuts in their yard OR chasing after you... I threw a rock at a biting one once, owner could not believe the injustice I was inflicting on his little baby. Got a dog that barks uncontrollably a few times everyday next door- it's of equivalent or louder volume than a ******* car horn- the kind-intentioned owner is blissfully unaware of it apparently. All this crap about dogs being a man's best friend... hell, no real man would ever anthropomorphize those vile, ****-eating creatures into their 'best friend'...sounds like someth'n a woman would do. Put 'em all down I say, except for the intelligent ones that warn you of bears... I can respect that.

The dog bite looks way cool today, the teeth marks have formed little white eyes, and the bruising around it makes it look just like a little skull.. I have to post pics of this!!

Guess I must not be a "real man," then!

My solution to the "vicious dog" problem is a simple one--own a dog that could kill every other dog in the area. I doubt that there was a dog in East Long Beach that could have challenged my boys Zuma or Dempsey, and my pup Cyrus is shaping up well in that regard too.

LOL! My primary reason for getting a CCW wasn't for criminals giving me Hell it was for protection against feral/vicious dog attacks. It's a real problem around here.

was also bit by a dog, while running and listening to my iPod. hmmm...

finished my run, was freaked about rabies for a little bit but nothing happened.

not a pleasant experience though.
