Prices of EG and JL Paris

Hi guys

I am looking at snagging my first pair of EG and JL Paris respectively. As my budget is not infinite, it would help if I could get them at a discount. While it will be good to get a pair at a good price, I do not want to compromise too much with the style I like.

Could I ask what is the current Jermyn Street price (I understand that prices had gone up recently) vs the price at the Northampton factory store (I understand from previous threads that the EG factory requires an appointment, and does not entertain walk-ins). This will help me see if it is worth making a trip to the London, and whether I should take a day trip to Northampton whilst in London.

Any comment or info in this regard will be most helpful. Thanks

I'd wait until the sales in June. You may find this the most cost effective method.

You've probably missed the boat at the JLP factory shop. Prices are now around 80% of retail for seconds (although very good seconds), with limited choice. Loafers were starting around £450 and Prestige around £650.

Some bargains can still be had at Cheaney, C&J and Barkers. The remainder appear to have slammed the door and firmly bolted it. Maybe they will learn... It will certainly give the Japanese tourists a shock when they arrive.

Current EG price for shoes start at £585, with MTO at £690.

In London, there are always bargains during the sale periods; I have brought C&J's at 67% off and Church's and Cheaneys at 50% off. I am waiting for the sales to start, so I can picked up a pair of JL's in something other than black or brown.

Interesting...I was there last summer and Lobb had by far the best deals. I think most models were around 200-250 pounds, including oxfords, loafers, and boots. The C & J factory on the other hand I found to be a waste of time. Small selection and not much of a discount from retail.

That is a shame.

Also interested to know more - do Trickers still have a reasonable selection and pricing?

WTF, I think a year or so ago they started at a bit over 500 pounds, and that was already an increase.

Hi there, quick question, so just moved to London, when is the best time for snapping up sales item (price wise, I know selection varies), and should I go to the main store or some factory stores? I know in the States, I can probably get the biggest discount post Christmas, spring/summer sale can be pretty good, but usually not as much as post Christmas/New Year, same case in UK?

Hi, just to clarify - do you mean the original retal price of loafers start around £450 and Prestige around £650, or are these already the

I been offered a JL City II second/sale stock for £504, which I thought is on the high side.

Would you know if one could order by email during the sale period. Cheers.

The JL factory prices of £200-250 are definitely very attractive. Is this the usual factory prices, or further reduction as a result of the summer sale. Seems that I should wait it out a little before plunging ahead.

The prices at the JLP Factory Shop went up less than a month ago. I believe the manager of the Jermyn Street store was getting rather miffed that customers were travelling to the factory shop instead of buying from him. Most people can't afford £600+ for a pair of shoes, but they can stretch to £250. The factory shop doesn't sell shoe trees or polish, and I believe customers were taking in their factory shop purchases to finish off their purchases.

The previous prices were £280 and £320 but now they have gone daft. The £450 and £650 prices are what the factory shop was charging last time I went in. I believe the date series were over £800.

If JLP want to limit the number of shoes they sell, they've done the right thing. I can't see many people switching from the factory shop to Jermyn Street. Maybe this will mean more stock available in the sale.

Thanks, Pengranger. I was indeed quoted between £450-£650 for shoes from the factory shop. How much are they retailing at Jermyn St now? At a price range of £450-£650, I imagine it is only about 30% off Jermyn St prices.

When I visited a few months ago, Prestige were at least £750 and went up to £1035 for the St Crepin. I think the Chapel's were around £850.

I bought a pair of Troon (monk strap) in beautiful burnt chestnut for 450 pound. No shoe trees or any extras. Bought them at the factory store. Not too much of a bargain, I thought. Any idea of when the sale begins in June? Early or late? I'll change my schedule!! Thanks
