Even after I got decent enough to quit shooting my aluminum sticks randomly off into the woods (and thus, bending them), I was then good enough to put creases in them if I shot multiple ones at a single target

Carbons solve that, among their other redeeming features.

http://www.cabelas.com/archery/arrow...s/carbon.shtml $5-10/per. I use cheaper arrows on that spectrum, and probably have a hundred shots per arrow. The failure mode us usually that the fletching comes off/frays (from sinking too deep in the target) or the tip holder falls out. The fletching can be reglued if you're not super-sensitive, and tips can be replaced. I don't know that I've destroyed any carbon-shafts shafts. Lifespan of the target depends on what type you get and how much you shoot at it. I have one of these foam cubes that you can shoot multiple sides of. Again, they last untill they have so many holes they can't stop the arrows -- but since the foam is sort of self-healing, that takes a while. Oh, and suppressors are awesome. Especially if you have bad ears. ~ H
