http://www.life.com/image/first/in-g...hitlers-bunker Also, Hitler Up Close. Not especially interesting except for picture 11, which shows him checking out the convertible bug that Volkswagon gave him for his 50th birthday. Now there's an ad campaign in the making.(insert sarcasm symbol here) All the stuff you hear about but don't want to believe. http://www.life.com/image/50537775/i...itler-up-close

why were these never published before?

There was a very explicit movie released a few years back about Hitler's final days. It depicts the couch (pictured in these photos) where they died, and the spot where they were burned. It stems from the diary of the secretary, who recently came forward with her story. Very interesting to finally see how it all ended. Quite an "adults only" movie.

Never forget that in his heart Der Fuehrer was an artist.

I assume you're talking about "The Downfall"?

^^That's what I thought, but why is it so "explicit?"

The picture of the ditch where Hitler and Eve Braun were reportedly cremated. Doesn't look very charred. I know, I know, break out the foil.

doesnt make sense. Wouldnt they just burn regular bodies if they were going to fake it? To give it that 'charred' look?

One of the pictures is of the photographer's notes. In them, he calls pictures "pix"! I had no idea the term has been common parlance for so long.

Yes, "The Downfall".

A couple of the scenes were rather gruesome. Bullet shot through head, blood spattered on wall type stuff. I thought it was intense and explicit in the details of some of the deaths. It helped the story immensely, don't get me wrong. But I couldn't recommend the movie to my parents, as I wouldn't want them to watch it. I also wouldn't want a 14 year old kid watching it.

I don't remember if it's unrated or what, but it's definitely an "adult" movie in my opinion. Very good at depicting the last days of Hitler, though. Recommended from a historical perspective.

O/T but many slang terms originated in the 1920s and are still used today. Baby - sweetheart. Beat it - scram or get lost Fall Guy - Victim of a frame Spiffy - An elegant appearance http://local.aaca.org/bntc/slang/slang.htm

Those images are awesome. I saw the movie "Downfall" and thought it was outstanding. The actor who played Hitler was incredible.

More interesting to me in that shot is what appears to be Abert Speer in an SS uniform. Had that image been produced by the prosecution during the Nuremburg Trials, the balance would certainly have tipped Speer into the purview of the hangman. He narrowly escaped as it was. For my part, I'm glad he wasn't hanged. His writings were fascinating and insightful.
