What's the point of manufacturers still doing BoF instead of unibody? Costs?

There’s a market for them. Easier to modify/lift and they feel that they are “tougher” vehicles for the LARPing effect.

They all look better. Unibodies all invariably look like cars, so the tougher you try to make them look, the more they look like minivans and hatchbacks that the owner drove through Offroad Warehouse

BoF absolutely has a place, it’s just that the place is not in 99.9% of US garages.

My leasing contract recently ended and I had to choose a new car. I tried many different electric cars, MB, BMW, Tesla etc, but somehow they just lacked something. Charging infra is decent where I live, but it can sometimes be an issue too when traveling to more remote locations.

I finally bought a slightly used X5 hybrid, it's big enough for my teenage kids and the hybrid drivetrain with the three liter straight six is nice. Next car will be something smaller, as kids will eventually move out.

Anyone have any experience with the late run c215 Mercedes coupes? A really low mileage ‘06 CL500 popped up at a nearby dealer with a clean service/ownership record and I’m tempted. It would be nice to pick up something like this and it wouldn’t be a daily driver. The 500 platform and later production date are heartening as I know some of the early models and 12 cylinder variants are fraught with bugs but any input from the forum would be appreciated.

I feel like hybrid is a great interim option while the world establishes a good electric infrastructure. I had a hybrid RAV4 in Norway last year and I filled the gas tank once the entire week.

Looking at Lucid Air rn because of the current lease enticement. A good lease deal with an 18 month commitment is a great way to learn whether we’re truly ready for EV
