Don't worry, I think this is a case where it's less sad that you're on the outside.

Not that I have any inclination to. While on the topic, I think you'll find the marque Lancia to be an automotive manufactuer that ipitomises this forum, both back in the day, and now. Although no longer as independant The cars truely were sophisticated, bespoke, with a unique level of refinement. Of Lancia's golden era of the 50's to 70's, think DB9 looks, sensible but advanced engineering of more the german style i.e. not in the usual vein as the typical under bonnet orchestra of multi carbs, multi cylinders, multi cams etc etc. Italian design of the time, but still with the italian performance/drive experience. I thoroughly appreciated the Lancias I owned. example: 1963 Lancia Flaminia coupe Pininfarina

Thanks for posting that. Lancia is one of the most underappreciated marques around. My father used to have a number of those coupes throughout the 50's, 60's, and 70's, including a rare Flavia Zagato Sport. Great cars. Then he kept buying Lancias even after they stopped being what they were, so the first car I ever drove was his early-nineties' Lancia Thema. A solid, clean salon design, but nothing to write home about. If they remade something like the Flavia Coupe', Fulvia Coupe' etc. I would buy it without a moment's thought. My father's favourite car ever was his silver Flavia Coupe' (yet he also owned a Porsche--911 I think--in the 70's). By the way, I drive an insignificant Volvo C30 (they don't even sell Lancias here in the UK), and before this I had a Saab 900 (another of my favourite marques, now unrecognisable, alas). P.S. My father doesn't drive anymore, but my mother now drives a little Lancia Y. It's based on the Fiat Punto, yet it is quite a stylish (if somewhat feminine) little city car.

Might as well replace the Bull on Wall Street.

Cool piece. I drive a Lancia. Even though it is only a '98 Dedra, you can still sense some of the greatness in the car. The interior is very luxurious (especially for 1998) and the driving abilities are definitely above average. I dare to say that every Lancia is superiour to its rivals, but people don't dare to buy them because of 1. lame stories about reliability (the Alfa syndrom) and 2. the edgy styling (take the Thesis for instance).

p.s. Radicaldog: the Thema is also a great car imo, especially the 8.32 version with the Ferrari engine.

Unfortunately that one had a regular Lancia engine. Quite good, though. The reliability stories about Fiat Group cars should be long dead by now, but unfortunately they aren't. The Thesis is a fantastic car: http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=...N&hl=en&tab=wi People don't realise that the same company makes Ferrari, Fiat, Maserati, Alfa, Lancia, Iveco, and now looks set to acquire a controlling stake in Chrysler (they already own about 20%, I think). And forumites should be grateful to Fiat for giving us Gianni Agnelli, even though they also gave us Lapo Elkann.
