Cars We Drive! - Page 644

Test drove three cars over the weekend. They all sucked. Onward...

Should probably mention which three cars: Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, and Subaru Legacy. The Chevy was decent. The motor was very smooth and had a decent amount of power for a small car, the interior was pretty bad. The Ford was just plain horrible, it was loud and very crude. The Legacy was the nicest, but the engine was a dog. I can't believe people find that motor acceptable in 2013 (2.5).

CPO GTI

A couple people have mentioned it, but it's going to be mainly my wifes car. She doesn't want a compact sports car. Plus, I'm sort of limited to what I have available. I don't want to have to drive 100+ miles to get the car serviced. We currently own a Hyundai and it's a pain in the ass to have it worked on (and it seems to need an above average amount of work done). So basically I'm limited to the Big 3 + Subaru and Toyota. Ugh.

Oh true, not having a dealer nearby can be a drag. Would say a Jetta 2.0t or tdi but that seems they're out. Nissan? My pop loves his Altima.

I want to take a look at the new Altima, but I've been reading a lot of horror stories regarding their new version of the CVT, apparently it's a clunker. There is a dealership about 35 miles away, but that's still a bit of a drive. When people say "the middle of nowhere" they're talking about Pullman, WA.

Even if I opened it up to Spokane, which is 100 miles away, there is still generally only one of each dealership so no price competition. I know a few folks who have gone to Seattle to get their cars. It's pretty crappy in this area.

Intoxicating, isn't it? The best thing about the car, IMO. It's what I miss about my previous car.

I thought the old cvt was a clunker which is why Nissan extended the warranty on it to 120k miles.  My g/f wanted a Murano but after reading about those problems I quickly exercised my veto power on the purchase.

Yes.. I'm missing my car so much right now, ugh. Can't fathom not being able to drive it for another NINE days.

What was your previous car?

Yes, I get that. I meant to ask why only those brands and not others. Availability of local dealers?

Yeah, I live in a college town about 500 miles from anything resembling civilization.
