Not really. Throttle response on all current turbocharged BMWs is abysmal. Even M5 is poor in this regard. I don't care how fast a car is; I care about how it responds. The E46 M3 and E92 M3 are far and away the leaders in this department in their respective classes. I am afraid this will be lost with the next generation. That's why there's Porsche.

It's obvious they're trying to cater to a much broader audience and moving away from their old principals

With an 180 hp base motor.  What is this?  1984?

Ha! Turbo lag es no bueno. Nothing will top the e46 both for its motor and the car as a whole.
That said, I will reserve judgment until I can get behind the wheel and test drive the new one.

As good as the E46 is the E92 is even better in this regard. I have both. The E92 is absolutely incredible. Instantaneous and linear throttle response that just keeps going and going. Amazing intake sound and a great exhaust noise (unlike the E46). It's like the CSL with another 100hp. The E46 is more fun to toss around. But in terms of throttle and engine response the E90/E92 M3 reigns supreme.

Best looking BMW's from 1980 to present?

1. E34 M5, final edition w/ M3 mirrors and M-parallel spoke wheels
2. E24 M6, early edition with slimline Euro bumpers
3. E46 M3 CSL
4. F06 M6 Gran Coupe
5. E30 320iS, Italian spec

I have an E92 as well. The n54 motor is bulletproof for sure aside from turbo and fuel pump problems.
I still say the E46 is better having owned both but that's more the purist in me. I'm sure the E3x guys will say they're better. The trend at BMW lately is on a downward slope.
E46>E9x>Fx but tech is the other way around. They're also cutting luxury corners too just like MB did with the With the W204 and W212

That said, I absolute love my car and it's always a blast to drive. I just know that the fun came from a good pedigree with superior ancestors.

Lol but this is like saying, my girlfriend is faithful except for the one time she let the fire department run a train on her

In fairness I heard that the new fuel pumps are much better, but my year 1 N54 failed and stranded me three times for the same HpFP problem - once was 300 miles from home

I think you're referring to the e92 335i whereas username79 the e92 M3.

Blown i6 vs N/A v8...

You're right, I was referring to a 335

Drove a Tesla today. That torque is crazy, you feel it in your stomach. The regenerative breaking was rather unique as well, although I dialed it down to see the difference. The lease marketing is rather silly saying the car can be had for $500 per month, but the real payment is $1,250. Also funny to see the MB shifter and some other small parts on the interior.

Save for the obvious cachet of the AMG models, I've never warmed much to Mercedes Benz until my friend gave me a ride in his new C Series coupe. What a spectacular machine in person. Wonderful interior to boot. It really has a sporty, understated presence, and the more I looked at it closely the more aggressive it appeared. Has anyone driven the C350 model? Looks like MB just released the AWD version and I think when it comes to a new daily in a few years, after it depreciates some, that'll be a tough car to pass up. The styling + MB solidity on a naturally aspirated 300 hp AWD platform....

Come to Butthead.

I am comparing M3s since the context was the 2014 M3. E92 M3. 335 has throttle lag for days, even weeks. They feel and drive like completely different cars, because they are.

Yep and unless you get DCT its always searching for the right gear it seems.
