Cars We Drive! - Page 598

That's terrible Mark; it was indeed a beautiful car. I would be far less rational that you seem to be right now. Good luck.

I hope it is recovered, and in good shape. I had one stolen years ago shortly after I moved to Indiana. It was recovered dirty, but otherwise unscathed. It had been used to make a drug run to Kentucky.

I am thinking of hiding an Android phone in my car, plug it an external GPS antenna and install the Cerberus app that lets you find your mobile anywhere with an sms activation. If I ever lose the car or it gets stolen, I'd know exactly where it is in minutes. The cost of this, if you choose an used Motorola Defy is about 60€. Worth it.

I heard of a danish guy who got his RS6 back that way.

One could only hope

This is a pretty brilliant and fool proof plan.

Mercedes comes with Tele-Aid that has all kinds of great features including theft notification and vehicle tracking. Again, amongst other things, if your airbags deploy it will locate you and summon emergency help.

Yeah, I should have definitely gotten that feature on my used, 20+ year old car! What was I thinking?

This system really works well. When I got hit, it called me within seconds. A nice sounding lady talked to me until the ambulance and police arrived.

The idea that I can be so easily tracked is disturbing

I just hope they didn't steal the 6er for the rims and leave it on blocks or on its belly. frown.gif What a horrible way to go, if so. The rest of the parts, while mint looking, aren't worth the hassle to make stealing that car worth it IMO. There are probably way more cars down your street worth stealing than that 635. frown.gif

Markl, sorry to hear about the 6, sickening. Hope you pick up something nice to replace it.

Probably the 6 was the best and easiest to steal in the neighbourhood and appealed to some drug trafficker or something. Some not so knowledgeable thief might have thought this is an invaluable classic. They didn't have key recognition back then did they?

Anyway, what a shame.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

"teaser" shots of the new CTS. Interior  looks nice, I think I like the hood bulge but hard to tell without a full 3/4 view. rear end looks pretty boring and LED DRLs are a bit overkill
