Cool demonstration of why winter tires are the most important consideration in snowy conditions. AWD, 4x4, etc. won't get you anywhere if none of the tires have grip. M3 on winter tires vs. Subaru Forester on summer tires:

Would have been a more useful comparison if the forester had all seasons on, but still, you're right.

That vid demonstrates why Audi AWD is a million times more effective than any other mfg. I would have smoked that M3 easily. That Subaru is just comic. Move over guys, let the snow ballers thru.

Umm, no. Magical AWD will do nothing for you if your tires have no grip. AWD just distributes power to different wheels. The tires still have to exert force against the ground to accelerate the car.

Tire Rack did a comparison between summer, all-season and winter tires. The AS weren't much better than the summers:

That's because they were forced to. Their AWD is so much better everyone else got them kicked out.

That was the advent of the Qauttro system, but it goes further. They decimated the IMSA and Trans Am formulas as well as DTM.

While other mfgs have created AWD systems, Audi's is a world apart. They were also champions in the German DTM. The Quattro system was banned everywhere it raced. Hans Stuck drove the shit out of those cars.
