F10 M5 crashes on the autobahn while at the top speed of 186 MPH. Driver (60), passenger (20), and dog all survived and have serious injuries. The driver swerved to avoid a car that tried to merge into the left lane and lost control of the car.. amazing that they all survived. Truly amazing. The other car that merged into the lane fled the scene. What a fucktastic douchebag. Imagine causing a wreck like that and seeing 2 tons of steel flip all over the place in your rearview mirror. You're just going to drive away? Fucking asshole.

I've always felt nervous while watching POV videos of people speeding on the autobahn because you see them breeze by the cars in the other lanes ridiculously quickly and it just takes one fucktard trying to change lanes to wreak havoc.

On the flip side, should you really be driving as fast as possible, just because you can? If I got the chance to drive on the autobahn, I definitely would -- at least once. But at what point is it just reckless and stupid to drive so fast like the driver in this accident?

Scary, scary shit.

^^^^Wow! I wouldn't have thought everyone in the car survived, including the dog. Glad they did.

That's insane.

 

My daily driver is an old '01 Grand Am, and as I do all the maintenance on my cars, I've had both my Grand Am and the M Coupe up on the lift many times. The difference is amazing; the M is all cast alumimun underneath while the Grand Am is mainly stamped steel. There is a huge difference in apparent robustness. That said, I'm sure an AMG is no slouch in the engineering department either.

 

I few months after I got my M Coupe I saw the thread that had this picture; a kid flipped his Coupe in a California canyon.

I had this exact picture on my wall as a kid.  I lived in the attic and every square inch of my walls were covered with cars, motorcycles or naked women (confiscated a bunch of coverless playboy and penthouse magazines my little brother had fished out of the trash of a magazine shop)

That happened a while back, I think it was the second F10 M5 to get smashed, I like that fact the only two other cars in the picture (beside the firetruck) are M cars as well.

There are a lot of shitty drivers around here, who don't use their mirrors and just drive around in their own little bubble.

Lol. I'm alive today in great part because of a Merc, wasn't an AMG, but it was the same safety DNA.

I walked away without a scratch after being broadsided by a guy at full speed. If the dude driving the M in the pic had been in an AMG, then maybe he and his passengers may have walked away laugh.gif (I kid, though no laughing matter).

I know I'm going to be lampooned for saying this, but if I had the cash I wouldn't buy an M5 or M3 simply because they are so ridiculously ubiquitous. If I'm dropping £75k on a car then I want to at least feel like every 10th car I see isn't exactly the same. The whole thing leaves me cold; the looks, the sound, even the brand as a whole.

I'm certain that they are outstanding cars, but the seemly unending love for M vehicles is a genuine anathema to me.

Having driven a few thousand kms on the autobahn with normal cars (the kind that don't really go over 220kmh), you usually don't have the chance to drive this fast so often anyway. You don't really see very quick cars this often either, to my surprise.

All in all, it works rather well, people driving at regular speeds are used to look in the back mirror often, people driving fast are used to braking early and not taking too much risks (although you might think differentyl if you only watch maxspeed runs on youtube).

In this case, good thing no one died.

If I had M3 money (buying + servicing), I think I would try to get a TVR Sagaris (being fully aware of how much pain it might bring me) and lease a BMW F11 530d.

I should have been more explicit. I tend to dislike the various types of douchebags that tend to gravitate towards BMW 3 series like flies to shit. Not saying everyone in a 3 series is a douchebag but it's hard to deny the vast majority are douchebags of one sort or another. Saying only a 3 series is a "real BMW" is exactly what a 3 series driver would say.

FWIW, if I had to drive a BMW, would be an M5 or a 700 series.
