Cars We Drive! - Page 412

When it sounds to good to be true...  I'd have a serious mech check out the body and mechanicals.  May have been in a crash.  Some idiot ran into my R32 a few years ago, took a 25K car to an 11K loser.  Actually, you can take a tax deduction for damage that lessens the value of a wrecked car, not a huge amount, but better than nothing.  FYI.

I was waiting for an airport shuttle at the Hyatt just now, it was like a Sunday car show with all the cars pulling up to get parked. I was there for 20 minutes but it was just nice car after nice car, saw a California Spyder, F430, and a 612 Scag in a row, an Arnage RL, Conti GT x 3, a Mulsanne, a GT3 RS 4.0, Maranello, a white F10 M5, a 997.2 GTS cabrio, a DB9 Volante, some forgettable German cars, and the best? Seeing a current RS6 sedan pull up and seeing a tiny Japanese woman of about 70 pop out of the drivers seat, lol. I felt like GreenFrog in there just watching all these cars go by.

I think somebody asked here recently about buying those 458 Challenges with the plexi siding windows and the dropped monoball suspensions and centerlock wheels and slicks; I have no idea how this guy got his plated, first time I've seen one this way. Definitely baller status, either way. It's raining here this evening so I bet getting home was a bitch, lol.

They sold the 360 (& 430) stradale with plates on, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get plates on one.

the 458 Challenge isn't the analog to the CS/Scuderia; it's a non street legal car in succession to the 360MC and the 430 Challenge. Different cars, they haven't made a streetable successor the Scuderia in the 458 style yet. I just can't figure out how this guy would get it plated in Japan, since the rules are so tough here. Rollcages are ok, but the car has to be on the list to begin with. The old privateer race Porsches in the same situation were never plate-able.

any chance its a self modified 458?
nah it was the real deal series racer - had the plexi windows, cf interior (added passenger seat?) with switches and stuff, centerlocks and slicks, the race fuel filler you see, a different exhaust... was also like 3" off the ground...

I know it was more, if you are skilled enough in the art of selling, it should be possible.

On a related note there's 6 for sale on mobile.de at 160-230k€.

lol when I was out last night, we saw a brand new 458 cruising down the street as we bar hopped. it had the temp paper license plates. also saw a guy parking a gallardo in the apartment parking complex next to ours, which is so WTF because it's not a super luxurious apartment. does not compute. wouldn't be surprised if he's living paycheck to paycheck to afford the monthly on that thing facepalm.gif

apparently dallas residents on average have the worst credit scores in the nation redface.gif

saw an M5 at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix yesterday, a BMW driving school car that was giving rides for a donation

it had huge ceramic brakes fornt and rear, yellow calipers

the fronts almost filled up a 20" wheel, looks like they will be an option

not my pic

yeah they are massive, like 15 something inches. The RS6 has brakes like that too. Still cracking up about seeing that RS6 yesterday burble in and the little Japanese lady looking like my mother in law getting out of it. Does anyone else's mother or grandmother drive a twin turbo V10?

She did drive (in succession) a VW gti, VW corrado vr6, and a jaguar XKR. I guess that while the XKR was impressive, the RS6 is a lot more "hardcore".
