At least you don't have a car tax. Denmark and Finland lead there. 1/3 is not even bad, I think the max income tax rate in Finland is 60%, but to get there you have to earn a lot. I think my tax % is around 25 with about national average income. I think Sweden's taxes in general are slightly worse (ie higher) than in Finland.
To get back somewhere near to the subject, a new Toyota Corolla sedan 1.6 basic model costs 22,020 euros around here. I hate to think what our American friends get for the same money.
