My old '89 ix was written off in late 2010 after a girl t-boned me. Apparently it's been rebuilt. It's a solid car that was really well taken care of by the guy I bought it off of and by me.

I saw that when it was posted up originally. I think I am wanting to go for something more modern for that price, even though it is nice and rare being an ix. There's a W202 C230 Kompressor out in Maple Ridge asking $5300, but I'm iffy on the long term upkeep cost of a merc and a supercharger.

can't speak on the blower not knowing the mileage, but that basic engine came in tons of cars that are probably all still on the road today. In the third world, they'll still be on the road in 20 more years as well. Better yet, get one with MB-Tex instead of leather and as long as you keep the outside clean, the car will look showroom forever.

If price is your issue, probably the LR4 is for you. However, when I looked into them when I was shopping in Nov-Dec 09, the LR4 residual for a 36 month 15k was 42. MB was 60. The RRS was a little less MSRP as my GL but actually substantially more for the lease due to residual, but I can't remember what the RRS residual was.

As to room, do you plan to have adults in the back seat? If so, get in the LR4 and put the driver's seat where you would want it, then get in the back seat. They're pretty small for a full sized adult.

^^^current LR4 residuals are 53% for 39/15, also special advertized leasing offers...

Family hauler mostly. Although had 7 adults pretty Comfortably in the back with third
Row seating. The GL will have more room. Will see what the financing works out to tomorrow. Mercedes covers the car for the life of the lease?

The warranty covers everything but tires, brakes (I think, it cover so ask), and maint. You can prepay for the three scheduled maint. and that cost me $800 if I remember right. Family hauler = GL vs. the LR4, IMO.

Certainly better than they were fall of 09. I think that Indian company that had just bought Rover was running scared as the used car market was tanking so hard. As I always point out, one of the values of a lease is that it guards you from risk in the used car market.

MB was very aggressive with the GL lease. Residual is 60% and money factor was .00193 or 4.6%. Not bad, and i think you get much more from the GL than the LR4, which is standard pricing. I just need to figure out if i need to drive an MB or stick with my LR.

I will tell you that I don't think you can go wrong with either vehicle but that unless you're going off roading I'd pick the GL. Keep in mind, I've had the Rover and currently have the GL, so I know each vehicle well.

Cannot believe how aggressive MB got on the GL. Left a deposit and will likely pick it up this weekend. First time in my negotiations that they came back to me, unwarranted and discounted the monthly payment by $80. We shall see. Thanks for the input.

IMO, black. However, personal taste is what you have to go with. Wife has ML with black interior and I think it's sharp. My GL has the gray interior with the dove grey exterior. I like how bright the grey interior is but not so happy on how easy it is to leave a mark on the carpets, etc.

This is to be a family hauler, right? I think that calls for black. Hardest to scuff/stain.

My LR3 is black and tan, but the black exterior shows every swirl mark. Even though i enjoy washing the car myself, it is hard to resist the car wash. That being said, the silver was sharp and contrasted with the chrome finishes nicely. The interior is where i need to make the decision. Such tough decisions, high class problems i guess. I always buy the weather proof mats for the New England winters and rain, so not so much concerned with carpets. Thanks for the adivce and guidance here, the information was very pertinent and helped me out in my decision making. Thanks again.
