It is sorta car related since it's in reference to the zhp package of my car. The 89 is just my birthyear tongue.gif

Don't get an 'MMM3' license plate. ffffuuuu.gif Saw a guy crawling down the freeway with an LSB M3 vert, license plate said '04M3PWR' - the car model-related plates instantly make you look like a tool. It's like adding more badges, except even bigger.

there are very few vanity plates that don't make you look like a tool. ZHP89 is relatively benign, though

By this reasoning, I will look like a tool with my plate.

I'm not a fan of vanity plates, but GF's will take a car enthusiast to be recognized as a statement about his car. In Indiana we also have specialty plates, over 160 or so ranging from "In God We Trust" to "Save the Pink Dolphins". It's ridiculous that so many are available. I hate them all.

I was tinkering with the idea of one saying MMM3 in case I decide to get an M3 later on, but I probably won't. Or maybe I will. I don't fucking know!
And yeah, I'm adjusting pretty well. It's a bit early to say since I've only been here for 6 days, but I'm a really independent person so it takes a huge cultural shift for me to feel really misplaced.
That being said, I really do miss my friends and Boston but the weather here is amazing, the women are absolutely jaw-droppingly HOT, and I get to drive around a lot.
As long as I'm able to find some cool people to befriend, I think I'll really like my stay in Dallas.

weather here is amazing? the summer switch just happened this past week. you may want to hold your words for 1 more month laugh.gif

the texas T plates are very cool, too, and can be used creatively.

although one of top management guys here has vanity plates.... spelling out his first name uhoh.gif

You really gotta toe the line with an M3, it's a great car and yet it's so easy to make one douche-y. The people who have come before have mostly ruined their reputation with black rims on blue cars, time attack wheels, black grilles, fake CSL trunks, useless carbon lip spoilers and flaps, red angel eyes, carbon fiber or red roundels, the list goes on and on. It's pretty sad.

What's the deal with time-attack wheels anyway? Is there a reason why they are all the same style? What are the origins behind it?

It frustrates me that the car doesn't get to stand on its own; rather, by driving one you have to act in certain ways, and only do certain things with the car, to avoid being associated with all those...other people. That's what's really sad.

Anyone have a contact at a Toyota dealer in LA area?  Looking for a Prius for the princess.  Please PM.  Thanks.

People just need to do what they want with their car. Too many people worry about what others think.

dude, the typical lunch order of BMW mods is sickening nowadays. The Honda scene was bad because the price of the cars, the equipment itself, was so low to the ground - didn't really matter if you were buying the marked up set of $1500 RNR's and adding $6000 of Spoon Sports shit, it was a Civic, whateva. When dudes started buying brand new $45K M3's and putting stuff on them, and the kids in the middle states followed (by buying off-lease cars) - things got terrible. I'm looking at you, California. I guess the Asian mall Nokia faceplate business has been dead for awhile, so colored and rhinestoned roundels and time attack wheels make up for that. Terrible state of affairs though, those people couldn't make their cars look any cheaper. It's a shame, like I said, because an M3 is a great car, costs $120K USD in the rest of the world, and is a really worked out idea of a car by now. Americans just really know how to douche them out, pair them with spray paint and fake parts, the M3 is unfortunately the new Integra GS-R though there's no reason why it should be.

There is no denying that there a lot of god awful M3s out there but that is mostly for doing too much and without knowing when to stop. But the way you guys talk about it, it's like any mods on the M3 automatically makes you a douche. All I'm saying is just let the idiots waste their money on crap mods, I don't really see it as a very big deal at all. I have a bigger problem with people who think their 3Series is the best car out there and act like they own the road. Definitely blame the owners, not the car. The fad will pass, it is actually started moving on to the next one already... onto Audis.
