Thanks man. I totally agree. 6 spd manual coupe is just so nice and the 19s are perfect. Such a joy to drive.

Never driven a 6MT. Sadly the only E46 I had seattime in was an SMG 'vert (with 18's). Pretty much the least desirable spec imaginable lol

edit: to be honest, I can't even remember the last time I drove a car w/ manual transmission.

6mt m3s are the best especially with a shorter clutch pedal like mine

Def. not tires or wheels, though I will need to replace my front tires pretty soon.

I'm guessing Tie -rod ends, or play in the suspension rubbers. could have been a pothole that caused it. see a suspension specialist. cheaper than you'd think.

Do you really need to get an SUV when having a baby? Don't think I want to give up the coupe.

Doing ANYTHING with the back seat of a coupe, unless it's just throwing/retrieving a duffel bag, is not fun... Let alone dealing with something like a car seat for a baby.

My boss drives an A5 and has 2 child seats in the back for his 3 and 5 year old boys. I've had to take the seats in and out a couple of times to help him and it's not pretty.

Of course I would have rather buy the RS5, but it simply is not practical enough.

He could have gotten a RS4 Avant, if he wanted, but the extra ride height in the Q5 might be nice, when having to take the kid in and out of the car seat.

I did consider the Avant but I really liked the idea of the SQ5's BiTurbo Diesel and appearance.

The RS4 is also 30-40k more expensive than an SQ5 here and I didn't really want a 'wagon'.

My mother got the SQ5 TDI a year ago, it's fun to drive at the autobahn and the comfort seats are really a league of their own. There are a few minor things which I don't like:

- relativly uncomfortable suspension, after all, it's just a SUV, not a sports car (no Magnetic Ride?)
- sound actuator
- flashy s-badges and the quad exhaust outlet

It very well could just be an out of balance tire. Especially given how awful Dallas roads are.

After driving on snow and ice last year I had a pretty rough vibration in the steering wheel from 60-70 on my e46. Had the tires balanced and rotated when I got an oil change and completely went away.

First thing I did was get the wheels rebalanced. No dice.

At the mechanic's right now. We shall see what the issue is.

I thought you were going to trade that thing in for a M235i? Never sink a significant amount of money into a car you're going to get rid of anyway

I was highly considering it, but decided I'd rather wait a year or so for E92 M3s to come down more in price and snag one of those.

I think I'll end up keeping my M5 for the time being.

Anyway, it's the brakes. Rotors are warped, so swapping out the front brakes for $1,400+. I have to swap these out anyway, as any prospective seller would notice the vibration and eventually find out. To me, it's just a sunk cost now.

Was considering getting the calipers painted red but decided against it.

Just trade it in for an M3 now :D

A dealer won't significantly reduce the trade in value because of a steering wheel shimmy

**** trading it in at the dealer. They'd offer me like $28K for the car.

I'd rather sell it via private party for around $35 - 36K.

1. Trading it in has a tax benefit if you're also buying a car at the same time - that could close some of the gap
2. Try Carmax - they are super painless and offer more than any dealer IME
3. People suck. I'd rather not deal with them especially in a transaction for expensive, complex things

That said, if it's truly a difference of $8-10k I'd agree with you about selling privately
