A true coach builder would have started from the bottom like Drake, Foose and the other guys who compete for the Ridler.

Exactly! a real "Builder" would start by making a chassis, and using suspension/driveline components from other cars to build a "made to measure" car.
and the styling looks like the illegitimate lovechild of a ferarri Enzo, and a 63' stingray. built by alfa.

not sure if it's a win looks wise, but still, they only went half way.

You have to watch the Top Gear to see what they said about the car. I will sort of rehash:

1. Looking at the 20s and 30s, coach builders started with a rolling car and built the body around it.
2. This is a Alfa 8C with a Maserati v8
3. The rumored cost was 600,000 pounds but the coach builder would not say. Clarkson said a guy paid 1.5 million in Hong Kong where he can't even drive it because the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
4. Compared it more towards a work of art than a car.

As for the wheel arches...I am ok with the front but would like the rears to be round instead of squared. Still, $1.5 for an Alfa...no thanks.

Not looking for a used car. Looking for new in this price range.
yup, sticking with Subaru Impreza STI as my tip. 5-Door hatch, AWD, high safety rating, nice interiors. great engineering, and fast as F#*k.

the difference is you will not be seen as a kid, or a poser , but as someone who just enjoys their car. and made a practical, fun choice.

take it or leave it. but standing firm with the choice. for what you asked. any chance you could test drive one? and tell us what you think?

The STI is a solid choice, although the interiors aren't as nice as the VW (though its not like you are stepping into a Chevy).

Here is me looking like a tourist posing next to 007's car. Love the salesman's puzzled look.
