I'm out of warranty unlike ballerBaire, but generally speaking the dealer is reasonably priced.  An oil change for 7 qts of synthetic is <$50 and includes a hand wash and interior vacuuming.  Better than the indies in my experience.  The tires were outrageous, so I went elsewhere, but again, generally everything is reasonable.

<50 for a synthetic oil change is pretty good. I paid like 35-40 just for the oil and filter to do it myself.

I also can't buy oil in the volume dealerships do, but I probably wouldn't do it myself if it was that cheap.

What's your forever car? You'd have to consider something you'd never get tired of, and something you could realistically maintain for the rest of your life

I think I have it with the 328GTS.  I've had it for over a decade and no plans to sell.  Its like a member of the family.  Definitely, enjoying the 981S a lot, and could easily see us keeping that for many more years.  I think eventually after the Mrs gets her daily driver, we might consider adding some type of convertible.  We might be tempted to consider an air cooled 911 Cabrio although I think the Mrs might prefer a Targa (from the late 80s or early 90s).

Have to find 1 of 85 of'em though!

Damn, you certainly have a thing for those SL's!!!   I can't imagine the expenses that go with that SL73, but that sounds like one beast of an engine!  I don't recall ever hearing that MB was offering that car here in the US.  Wishing you luck on finding and owning one of the 85.

Actually, if I get my motorcycle at some point, that will be a forever vehicle.

thinking about it more, i think a car needs some special significance to you personally for you to never get tired of it, and have it be something you keep forever.

like for me, the 911 has unwaveringly been my favorite car of all time. and this is the most ultimate version of the model that i can afford. a Ferrari probably floats most people's boats more, though. i brought this question up at dinner tonight and the answers i got were -

'63 Corvette convertible
Harley Davidson
E30 M3
'65 Mustang (boooo-ring)
a Backdraft Cobra

the guy who said Cobra already has one, and the Corvette guy is in the process of buying his. here's to putting that forever car in everyone's garages!

Harley for me.

Your 328 is dirty. Certainly if we're playing hroi's game though she could use a cousin?

And yes and no: I'd be equally as pleased with this!

the town that i live in is wall-to-wall 25 mph. they enforce that, too.

Wait- was the forever car also in the realistic realm of affordability? I assumed no. Hence, for 00 I'd humbly modify to

My girlfriend's 'dream' car is a white wrangler.

(relevant because latina, though I'm pretty sure she'd like that thing too. Then again she did say the other day that she thought the G wagon was 'cute'. I had no idea how she even found out about those lol.)

Good call on the Land cruisers. My family had a '79 (iirc) back in the day. My god that thing was a mountain goat. But it would give you a concussion riding in the jump seats in the back

Ah, I see the line of reasoning. Well lemme just add then that I heartily agree. The LC was always my fav SUV from them. My buddy had a mid90s manual 4Runner from HS til recent death by natural causes (the truck; not him) and I always bugged him about it having the Corolla motor lol

I've ridden in UN land cruisers in Uganda over some pretty shitty roads. It's not much better inside...

Everyone gets the fuck out of their way though!
