Cars We Drive! - Page 1664

Most likely a more or less dedicated track car
post #24947 of 26360

So the miata (mis)adventures begin. Left MA yesterday to visit my parents in PA with my gf.

Driving down the highway yesterday and the car starts misfiring and stalls. Pop open the hood and the coolant reservoir is open and bubbling/leaking and one of the spark plug wires is popped up. Wait a while and the car starts up. Does this twice more, once on the on ramp for the friggin george washington bridge.

Somehow managed to limp home. Pulled codes at autozone on the way back and it's a cam and crank angle sensor code. I was going to buy the sensors and just do it myself, but I just dropped the car off to a shop here. I'm home for the first time in a while and I can't really justify spending all that time trying to figure out where the crank sensor is (found the cam easily), especially since I have to leave tomorrow morning.

I wish I could have done it myself, but I kinda freaked out at the prospect of being stranded on the way back. Esp because my girlfriend was such a friggin trooper on the way down!

Le sigh.

I understand where you're coming from but it's a bit of a trip to see a car as old as his in the condition that it's in. He got it at a rough time in his life, so I guess it's a bit of a reminder of better things to come.

I imagine when he bought the car and came out it was pretty rough back then.

^ and I thought I was the douchebag of this thread. How does your watch relate to your car? Cheering your own post is also classy. Also, what are you cross-posting against?

^To the @greenfrog - I got some soft home cleaning brush from Home Depot when I had mine. Still not fun, but helps a bit. It was less than 5 bucks.

Good call on checking HD. I was on Amazon perusing "special" brushes for cleaning car tires and the ones that have not-completely-shitty reviews are like $30. Ridiculous.

I need to get me some Sonax wheel cleaner, though.

I don't know what the BenTouareg is like, probably very good, but it's a spectacularly awful name isn't it?
