Oh so not ordering, but buying existing preowned inventory. Still pretty damn cool though

Elon just texted me saying the first P100D rolling off the assembly line is earmarked for me.

What a bro.

☺️

From what I hear (literally no joke) Elon basically lives at the factories at Hawthorne, Fremont, or Nevada. If he's not there, he's with some cute number partying in Atherton.

I'm surprised I've never run into the guy.

From Jalopnik:

"Oddly enough, current Tesla Model S and Model X P90D owners will actually be able to physically upgrade their cars to P100D spec, although it does induce a $20,000 charge as Tesla must recycle the cars’ current battery pack. If you ordered a P90D in the past few weeks and are still waiting on delivery, you can actually just cut Tesla a check for $10,000 and they’ll put in the newest biggest and bestest battery pack before it shows up at your door.

Not bad for a family sedan."

I'm done upgrading Teslas for the moment though. The P85D was sufficiently fast for a fat ass family sedan. The P90D ludy places me in douchebag mode as is. The P100D - well who has 20k lying around.

You can't blame the car for that and you clearly don't follow the watch thread.

Spent the weekend with a mustang convertible, the mid-level turbo engine...drove it up the 1 from SF to Point Arena, and on various inland twisties on the way back.

So happy I sprung for the convertible rental. Not so much because I could put the top down (although I certainly took advantage of it), but because those roads would have been no fun in some generic Hyundai rental, and the convertible inventory happens to get you something less bland.

Quite pleasantly surprised by the mustang (and happy I chose it over the camaro they offered). I had heard good things about the current crop of mustangs, and they seem to be true--wasn't at all like the shitty cars from 10 years ago.

It handled quite well in the corners. Steering felt great in "Sport Steering" mode, and while no automatic is completely satisfactory...the Sport+ transmission mode did a pretty good job of keeping the turbo spooled up.

It was quick, but it must be heavy, since it didn't really feel like a car with 310hp and 320lb/ft of torque.

Certain features like this are a little over the top though:

(Projected from underneath the doors when the car is stopped)

Would feel dumb walking up to a parts counter like "I need to replace my pony projector bulb..."

I'd be embarrassed to have shit like that on my car.

Is craigslist acting up for anyone else? I can't get onto any ads on any of my 3 devices.
