Cars We Drive! - Page 1601

Very nice. Must be feeling very accomplished / rewarded.

The guy with the black miata came back and told me that the other guy seems to have flaked. He'd accept what I told him I was willing to offer at 3800.

So uhhhh would you buy a car that's been autocrossed? Esp if it had higher miles than one that's a base model, but has a few more goodies?

Fark hahaha.

Don't get me wrong they are not ugly, but its not like I give them a second glance if I see one.

I wouldn't be too concerned if it was autocrossed. Tracked maybe.

If it was autocrossed but driven normally on the streets and maintained well I'd be ok with it.

In terms of mods and mileage tolerance, that's more personal preference.

I personally don't like white on most roadsters/convertibles. The black one looks pretty great, however I'm only looking through the pics.

Did either or both come with an LSD already installed? That along with body and mechanical condition would sway my vote. Rag top condition would be secondary. Wheel style and interior being tertiary.

Seemed to be pretty well maintained. He just sent me the amazon screenshots for all the receipts of the parts/brakes/rotors he installed. Did all the work himself. As far as engine mileage tolerance... I'm reading up on it. But a Torsen seems to be available for 300-500 used on ebay. Roll bars can be had for not too much on ebay, though I'm not sure I'd buy something like that from ebay...

Hard to gauge the effect of that many miles though. I'm sure the resale would be way better on the one with lower miles even if it didn't have the goodies.

LOL I heard about this. That's at Katie's Cars and Coffee in Great Falls, down the street from me.

I bought a Carfax account earlier today after someone on here (Dino?) had recommended doing it. I ran the numbers for the black one and for the navy one. They both pop up as LS models, but I think that it's wrong about the navy one. I called a mazda dealership and I'm on hold with the Mazda customer service number right now. I believe that the navy car is a CP model which is:Convenience Package: Includes tweeter speakers, power door locks, cruise control and windblocker.

The 'S' package would have had the torsen.

Looks like the 2001 has the LSD. Body condition better on the 2000, which also has lower miles. Glass back tops on both, but again 2000 in better condition. Carfax is also suggesting a retail price on the 00 at about 1k higher.

01 is from the south and 00 is from the west coast. Both look to have no rust from what I can see from getting on the ground with lights.

Haha, why is this such a hard decision for me.

GF, make sure everything is kosher. You don't want to defend this a month from now.
