I did my bodyshop training on my $1,000 car. Because it was so out of shape being a former track mule. The front corner was hit and pushed in,
I had it straightened out within 4 hours. Straight used fender on, hammer and putty the Aluminium hood(another 3 hours). And all my panel gaps are exact. 4.5 mm each side of the hood. -one days work. Painting said area would be another morning.

Rear quarter chop and replacement? 3days.

I think it's closer to what HRoi said. No part of where the GF was hit is anything except steel - anything plastic can be fixed with a heat gun and a respray. There were also no parts that would need to be replaced IMO.

I'm guessing McLaren could've fixed the tub on an almost totaled Ralph Lauren F1 LM faster.

This was the damage...

plus some scraping on the wheel. Really, not that bad at all. The brake dust hurts my eyes more 😂

Basically nothing. The body shop is giving the GF bro a world class run around. GF, you should be thermonuclear (as in fusion, not fission) at this point.

Let's not forget they billed the girl's insurance company for like $4.8k and adding a rental on top of that at around $50/day for close to 60 days = $8k for THAT.

You're kidding me. My M4 repair was ~$10k and ~10 days. If the CF strut tower brace or the front right rotor chipped or the engine block was displaced, the car was totaled - bear in mind an almost brand new M car. $8k on an E46 is basically them taking you out back and having their way with you.

You need to man up on this.

And do what? The only way I personally have been shafted is with my time. The girl's insurance company got hosed.

You missed track days, you're unfamiliar driving a Camry and feel unsafe, you were supposed to pick up your mom in the E46, straight up fraud, whatever. This is nuts man.

Did her insurance inspect the car?

Again.. not like I can take any legal action or do anything, really. I already chewed them out over the phone and I'll be dropping by unannounced tomorrow to see what's up (got busy listening to earnings calls today after work shog[1].gif )

Yeah, they sent their own adjuster. He signed off on it.

Actually you can. It'd be easier if your insurance went to bat for you (I recall you having a legit insurance company), but you can do it on your own as well.

I think you're the one getting hosed, not her insurance.

Also, how far do you think chewing someone out over the phone gets you?

They're sticking it to the insurance company and using the "billed hours" as bullshit backup, probably have a good markup on the crap fleet daily rental they gave GF too.

He isn't buying a new X5 anytime soon so they're brushing him off. Fuck that. Go in and tell them to give you a nice rental to round out the rest of the "time spent on these repairs" or you'll raise holy hell with corporate.

Small tear to the upper bolster of my Lexus seat. Anything to watch out for at an upholstery shop when I am getting it patched?

They probably could. . . .

I never said anything about plastic
Here is my corner damage:

The tools:

Straightened:

Reassembled:

And the finished product:

As an "Amatuer", i did this in less time than GF's bodyshop to fix a 2 day scratch.
Pics are to show just how slow they are being.

I think TV and I would get along well in real life smile.gif.

I think we would all get along well. After all the trash talk, we are "car guys".

A hearty discussion, with smack talk thrown in for lols makes this the place to hang out.

Edit: German sedan's are rubbish, electric cars are evil. Carry on. tongue.gif
