I find that hard to believe, given that the previous owner is a huge bimmer enthusiast who clearly spends a lot of money on his cars, but whatever.

Honestly (and as you know I have BMW, too) this does not mean that the PO was intelligent in any way. 'Enthusiasts' are often to be mistrusted, especially about cars.

I got Bridgestone Serenity tires for my Acura RL and they came out to $900+ for a set of 4.

That was after searching around for the best prices including install and balance, Tirerack, Discount Tires Direct, etc.

I'm surprised the Conti's are that cheap for such a large wheel.

I'm actually surprised that your tires are so expensive. I would expect a set of four tires for a comfortable luxury sedan to top out at around $600.

Not a chance. $1000 bare minimum for anything wider than a 225.

Mine are 245 width.

Cheap Kumho's and General tires would be around $650 for the set, installed, and balanced. Reading the reviews they aren't great in any kind of precipitation and wear out very quickly. You get what you pay for.

I have PSS now. I like it much more than the Conti Extreme contact I had before.

I was told that the contis are quieter, but softer, than the PSSs. Is that true in your experience?

To me the Contis felt stiffer. Noise is about the same. Wore out the rears Conti in about 20k miles. One of the fronts had side wall damage, probably from NYC pot holes, so I replaced them all.

Just saw this forum guess I will add to the tire talk. I recently had to switch out the tires on my cls. Got 4 bridgestone potenza s04 pole position and they've been great. Came out to $874 at tirerack and $120 for install and alignment.

forgot to tell you guys - i got a good deal on a Porsche Boxster rental in Vegas so i spent a half day blasting up and down the Lake Mead/Valley of Fire canyon road (government shutdown clearing the roads ftw!)

car is simply awesome. PDK isn't better than DCT though.
